The Vagina Makeover of Your Dreams

All your vagina filler questions answered (even the ones you didn’t know you had).

Look, when I say “dreams,” I don’t mean some cookie-cutter (pun intended) idea of what a vagina is supposed to look like. I mean this is 2020 after all. No one should make you feel any type of way about what you’ve got going on down there. There is no Beyoncé of vaginas, and if even if there were, how would we know? What would define such an honorable rank? Add this to the list of things that keep me up at night. Spoiler alert: There is no perfect vagina, but you didn’t need me to tell you that.

While this is true, it still has to be said. You do you. Vaginas are obviously extremely personal. If you fancy yourself some vagina filler then by all means, no one is stopping you. And if no one is supporting you, allow me to be that person. Who’s to say what’s considered “normal” cosmetic work these days, anyway? Is a nose really that different from a private part? Yeah, don’t answer that.

If you’re going to get a vagina makeover, or any vaginal cosmetic work for that matter, go see Dr. Sheila Nazarian MD. She is hands down the best in her field. Dr. Nazarian is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in mommy makeovers including, you guessed it, Laser Vaginal Therapy. What I find most impressive about Dr. Nazarian is her relentless quest for optimal results. She is known for trying every device and treatment out on herself first before recommending it to her patients. If that’s not the gold star seal of approval, I’m not sure what is.

We got intimate with Dr. Nazarian to ask all the burning questions and get “filled in” on what it means to get work done down there.

What are the different vaginal cosmetic treatment options currently available and who are candidates for each one?

SN

The best labiaplasty candidate is someone who has labia minora (small lips) that they feel are uncomfortable or aesthetically unpleasing. Vaginal laser treatments are available to improve moisture, tighten, and decrease stress as well as urinary incontinence (peeing on yourself when you exercise or cough).

We also do the WOW procedure which is PRP injections into the clitoris and G-spot to improve sensitivity in the intimate areas. We also perform lightening of the area as well as laser hair removal. We encourage women to use the VFit+ for at-home vaginal rejuvenation.

CZ

What are some of the major concerns women come to you for, in hopes that one of your treatment options will fix?

SN

Stress, urinary incontinence, tightening, moisture, and aesthetics are what most women come in for.

CZ

Is it really possible to tighten the skin down there?

SN

The skin can absolutely be tightened in the intimate areas.  Radio-frequency treatments like Pelleve, Accutite, and Morpheus8 are the most effective.

CZ

Break it down for us: What specific parts of the vagina can be cosmetically altered and in what way?

SN

Labia Minora – Accutite, Plexr, or Labiaplasty
Labia Majora – Fat transfer, Accutite, Pelleve, Morpheus8
Vagina – diVa laser

“So much has developed within the last 5 years in terms of vaginal rejuvenation.”

CZ

What does the Vaginal Laser Therapy procedure entail? What is downtime like?

SN

The patients are numbed with a cream for 30 minutes. The cream is removed and the device is placed into the vagina. The laser corkscrews inside of the disposable vaginal applicator and treats the vaginal wall. This takes about 5 minutes. The patient then goes home and can expect to spot like the last couple days of their period for 3 days.

CZ

Are there any risks involved?

SN

If someone has active herpes or warts down there, we would not treat, as to not spread it.

CZ

What benefits can you expect to see? How often is treatment needed?

SN

3 treatments one month apart and touch-ups every 1-2 years. Patients usually see improvement after the first treatment.

CZ

Does VLT lead to better sex?

SN

Vaginal Laser Therapy definitely can tighten things up and improve the sexual experience. Improved moisture can also help make sex more comfortable.

CZ

What’s next for vagina makeovers in 2020, any trends or new treatments we’ll start to hear more of?

SN

So much has developed within the last 5 years in terms of vaginal rejuvenation… nothing very different on the horizon right now.
