I’m very particular about the haircare that makes its way onto my shelves. After years of trying everything from Head & Shoulders to Kerastase, I’ve found that there are a few key things that I look for in my products. To make it into my shower, the products I find have to be sensitive skin-friendly, minimally fragranced, and beautifully packaged.
I don’t like to wash my hair every day—I find that about every 3 days is the perfect spot for me. When I’m in the market for a new shampoo I look for two things: formula and fragrance. The formula has to lather well, but not to the point of stripping my hair and it has to rinse out cleanly and quickly. If there’s even the slightest feeling of leftover residue – it’s over. The scent can’t be too overpowering — I like a nice subtle fragrance from natural sources.
With these things in mind, I think I’ve finally found “the one”: the Act + Acre Hair Cleanse is everything I want it and more. The formula is cold-pressed and loaded with an array of botanical extracts that support the health of your scalp and strands. The scent is fairly neutral and most days, I don’t even notice it. I’ve purchased this shampoo over 5 times because I think it’s that good.
Confession: I don’t fully rinse my hair. I like to keep about 20% of the product in my hair and scalp so it actually conditions it. Since I’m leaving some product in, I like to make sure there’s no silicones or synthetic conditioning agents and I’ve found that this formula (even without fully rinsing!) doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it feel too heavy with product.

While this can be used on the scalp, I use this oil to help maintain my eyebrows. Castor oil contains high amounts of ricinoleic acid, which can directly help promote follicle growth. I apply it with a spoolie before bed every night. Because castor oil is a very thick oil, you can also use it to style your brows during the day.
