Passionate about beauty? You’ve already got something in common with Gabi Indahl, our Arizona-based editor here at theSKIN.

Though she was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, she didn’t always call the state home. At 16, her dad’s job took her family to the Netherlands. “This was obviously huge for me and changed my life completely,” she recalls, “My affinity for travel began there.” She still tries to get out and explore new places when she can.

Gabi runs a beauty insta of her own; the natural thing for a beauty enthusiast slash photographer to do! There’s no arguing she’s got eye for it — her feed is an aesthetically pleasing round-up of the latest and greatest products. Great pics and solid recos? We love.

What’s your ideal night in?

GI

Movie night with my mom, a gluten/dairy free pizza and a face mask.

TS

What’s your ideal night out?

GI

Dinner and cocktails with a good friend. I’m not typically a person who goes out often. I do enjoy getting dressed up every once in a while, but spending quality time with someone over dinner and drinks is my kind of fun.

TS

How do you Sunday?

GI

Sunday is a reset day. It usually entails brunch with my family and cleaning. I like to have my room and bathroom and my life in order so that I’m ready for the week ahead.

TS

What’s your self-care power move?

GI

A solo dance party to Lizzo songs. This boosts my energy, my mood and makes me feel so good about myself.

TS

How do you cope with tough days?

GI

Typically I tend to just push through the crappy days, then end them with a hot shower and watching a happy show or movie that makes me laugh.

TS

What’s currently on your want list?

GI

I really just want to be able to travel again. I’ve missed it immensely since COVID started.

TS

Best beauty buy of the past 3 months?

GI

Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm. I think my favorite part of my nighttime routine is when I get to use this mango-colored cleansing balm. I have tried other oil based/balm cleansers but nothing compares to this one — it leaves my skin supple but clean. I’m on my third tub.

I’ve made so many connections through social media—I met one of my best friends through Instagram.”

TS

What (or who) inspires you?

GI

My parents. They are my best friends. My dad is the hardest working man I know. He is an absolute rockstar and when he is around, you know everything will be ok. My mom is a stay-at-home mom and I know that I would not be who I am today if it were not for her. I can’t imagine life without them.

TS

What’s the best thing social media has done for you? The worst?

GI

Social media has given me so many opportunities; I’ve made so many connections: I even met one of my best friends through Instagram. It’s given me a way to be creative, develop my photography skills, and work with so many brands that I admire. On the other hand, I tend to spend way more time on my phone than I’d like to. I’ll find myself mindlessly scrolling just because I’m bored. I have to remind myself to take a break and read a book or keep my phone in the other room if I’m spending time with my family.

TS

What’s a personal goal or project you are working towards?

GI

Lately building up my website and blog as been a big project for me. I’m working towards posting more consistently and frequently.

TS

Let’s play F*ck, Marry, Kill: skincare edition. Cleanser, moisturizer, and serum?

GI

This is so hard, but I think I have to say f*ck moisturizer, marry cleanser, kill serum.

TS

Okay, now makeup edition. Mascara, blush, and lipstick?

GI

Also very hard. f*ck blush, marry mascara, kill lipstick (I love a good lipstick but most days I go without it).

TS

Describe beauty as you see it.

GI

Beauty to me is authenticity and kindness. It’s in and owned by everyone.
