Welcome to Bo-Talks, our feature series where we talk with industry professionals about the treatments, tips, and tricks that can change your skin for the better.
With so many different facial treatments constantly hitting the scene, it can be confusing to differentiate the shiny and new from the tried and true. The fix? Your favorite esthetician probably has the answer. After all, trying and testing out new treatments on the daily is what makes them such skin experts in the first place.
Caroline Godsick of FACILE dermatology + boutique is a literal glow goddess. No really, her skin is quite literally flawless. When asked what she does to keep her skin glowing, she is quick to put all her money on one magical treatment that she swears by for all skin types. The treatment? Dermalinfusion.
What does a typical treatment entail? “The Dermalinfusion machine is a 3-in-1 treatment that gently exfoliates the skin with a diamond tip, infuses a customized serum, and extracts that dead skin with a vacuum pressure to lift up blackheads, oil, and sebum,” explains Godsick.
All that dead skin, debris, oil, and sebum has to go somewhere, and that somewhere is into the machine’s waste jar, which you can take a look at after if you’re into that sort of thing. Personally, extractions are possibly the best part of every facial, but also somehow the worst too? Actually, scratch that, the most gratifying part is knowing there’s literal gunk leaving your pores. Godsick agrees. “The waste jar is the most satisfying part!” she says.
“The 3-in-1 technology leaves the skin plump, adds volume and hydration, and improves tone and texture.”
Exactly how many treatments are needed? Godsick advises at least monthly treatments to maintain optimal results. In terms of the serum applied in each treatment, this is the part of the facial that gets customized to your specific skin concern. She has a few go-to serums, depending on the patient’s skin concerns. “I use vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, pore clarifying, salicylic acid and skin-brightening specialized serums the most frequently,” she says.
Want to level up a Dermalinfusion? Godsick has the inside scoop on how to maximize your results and make them last. “Dermalinfusion can be paired with many other treatments such as Microneedling and Clear + Brilliant to maximize their results,” she says. “I recommend the Dermalinfusion one week after each of these treatments to remove leftover dead skin. Peels can also be applied post treatment, which allows them to penetrate deeper into the skin.”
With zero downtime, aftercare instructions are pretty low key. “Avoid makeup, direct sun exposure, and working out for at least 4 hours after treatment,” says Godsick. An easy, transformative facial treatment with immediate results and zero downtime that delivers an ungodly glow? Done and done.
