You’ve most likely seen most of my beauty favorites of 2019 being hyped all over Instagram. When a product is talked up so much, it can make you wonder: “Is it really that good?” I’m here to tell you: These are really THAT good.
If you have followed me on @getglowy at all, you know that Necessaire’s Body Lotion and Wash have been constants in my body care routine since I purchased them. I trust and continue to use Necessaire because of their commitment to clean, non-toxic formulations. The Body Exfoliator is no exception, and it’s been a staple in my shower since it launched. This body scrub is a physical and chemical exfoliator all in one: it’s a gorgeous gel that’s filled with pumice and bamboo charcoal that suds up like a body wash, so you can scrub and wash your skin at the same time. As it’s massaged with water into the skin, the bamboo charcoal and pumice starts to dissolve. The scrub is gentle, but it gets the job done, so it’s good for any skin type.
Another essential from Necessaire, this is a luxurious product that’s perfect for winter time or if you have dry skin. A hyaluronic acid serum for your body is great because the HA draws moisture deeper into your skin. I like to use this right out of the shower when my skin is still damp so that as the water dries, the serum soaks deeper into the skin. The best way to make sure that moisture stays in your skin is to top it with a thick lotion, so after I apply the Body Serum I follow it up with my Necessaire Body Lotion, mixed with Cocokind Golden Elixir Oil. This routine leaves my skin so soft and locks in moisture.
“These are really THAT good.”
This is one of my absolute favorite skincare launches of 2019. It’s a soothing, hydrating serum in an ultra-fine mist form. I like that it’s scent-free and full of amazing ingredients to help nourish skin. I use this after cleansing and toning and before my moisturizer, and I use a lot: about 6-9 sprays are enough to cover my face and neck.
Zitsticka’s pimple patches have tiny spikes – aka microdarts – that deliver ingredients like hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, and niacinamide straight to the heart of the zit. They’re perfect for those under-the-skin breakouts that are still in their early stages, the ones that you can feel but you can’t see. Their KILLA kit comes with 8 microdart patches and 8 solution-soaked swabs to prep your skin for treatment. These are great to have in your skin care stash at all times.
You know when you have a pimple that’s ready to be popped, but you don’t want it to scar? These star-shaped pimple patches have your back. They absorb the liquid from the breakout, causing it to flatten without any risk of scarring. I like to apply them to white heads and keep them on for as long as possible. When I remove the star, the head of the zit has gone with it. I follow up with another star on top of the (cleaned!) open wound to absorb excess liquid and keep a scab from forming. The star covered sheets come stored in a practical cube compact, complete with a mirror. You keep the compact, and when you run out, you simply buy refill sheets. I love how easy they are to store compared to other hydrocolloid patches I’ve tried.
I’ve been in love with the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask for quite a while, so when the Agave + Nighttime Therapy came out I had to try it. I never go to bed without a lip mask, and now I put a thick layer of this on every night to keep my lips soft. It’s buttery, but not as thick as the Agave lip mask, so it spreads on quite easily. It’s perfect if you want to wake up with supple lips.
I’m not usually someone who reaches for an eye shadow while doing my daily makeup, I typically will just take some leftover blush from my cheeks and put it on my eyelids to save time. Ten Second Shadow changed that. I do all of my makeup with my fingers and with this quick and easy formula, it’s no different. It has a doe-foot applicator that makes it easy to spread the watery formula onto the lid. All it takes after that is a quick blend with fingers into the lid and it dries down within ten seconds.
I am really truly in love with this product and I didn’t expect to be. As soon as I tried it out, it made it to the top of my list. The formula is filled with amazing ingredients to hydrate and nourish, and it leaves your lips looking glossy without being sticky. My go to shade is Malibu, a pretty sheer pink that matches my lips well.
When Glossier Play first launched, I was most excited about their colorful eyeliner pencils, and least excited about the Vinylic Lip. However, when my Playground kit arrived and I first tried Vinylic lip, I was hooked. This lip lacquer has a velvety smooth, high shine finish, combining the look of a gloss, the pigment of a lipstick, and the feel of a balm into one magic product. The applicator makes it easy to spread onto the lips, and you can wear it sheer with just one coat or build up the pigment and wear it bold with multiple coats. My two personal favorite shades are Baby (a classic bright red) and Pony (a more natural mauve-nude).
When Futuredew launched, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Is it skincare? Is it makeup? Glossier calls it skin care, but I love using it as a makeup primer right before I apply SPF. I also like to press it into my skin after I’ve applied my makeup, which leaves my skin looking glowy, but not greasy.
I gave up on winged liner looks so long ago because I’ve always struggled to with them. Glossier came to the rescue with Pro Tip. It’s the easiest liquid liner I’ve ever used. I still spend a ton of time fixing and re-doing my strokes, but it’s the smoothest application from a liquid liner you could ever ask for.
