I don’t know about you, but the only places I’ve been in the past month (for more than a few minutes, that is) have been the grocery store and my apartment. The quarantine life has left me with a lack of places to go — and you know, be seen. As a result, my daily beauty routine has been whittled down to the absolute bare minimum. More often than not, this bare minimum is a solid skincare regimen with a moisturizer and an SPF to finish it off. But as luck would have it, I recently filled my schedule with a handful of video calls, and now I’m compelled to step it up a bit.
Depending on who’s on the receiving end, a fresh face might suffice for a virtual hangout. But when it takes on a more formal tone, going completely makeup-free might not cut it. Thankfully, there are plenty of foolproof makeup products that were practically made for this in-between. So whether you’re gearing up for that weekly Zoom call for work, a boozy Google Hangouts session with the girls, or a much-needed FaceTime date with your S.O., adding a bit of color here and there can make all the difference on a pixelated screen — especially during times like these.
If you, like me, have opted to go sans makeup during most of your time in quarantine, odds are the last thing you want to do is put on a full face. Plus, your comprehensive kit of tools and brushes may feel foreign to you after going weeks without it. Not to worry: in my quest for makeup that requires little to no effort, I’ve found the products that’ll have you Zoom-ready in a mere matter of minutes.
Tinted Moisturizer: Glo Moisturizing Tint SPF 30+
For the moments when you don’t want to use a full-coverage foundation, a tinted moisturizer will be just what you need to even out your skin tone without using a heavy layer of makeup. Not only is a tinted moisturizer easy to apply with the palms of your hands, but most also include SPF to protect you from any UV rays, making it even better.
Cream Eyeshadow: Supergoop! Shimmershade Illuminating Cream Eyeshadow SPF 30
If you love to have a slight sheen on your eyes, a cream eyeshadow is it. Get a little bit of the pigment on the pads of your fingers before dabbing it to your lids. Once you have enough to your liking, buff it out for that perfectly undone effect.
Highlighter Balm: RMS Beauty Luminizer
I’ll admit, I went a little crazy with highlighters when they were the It item of makeup. Since I’ve dialed it back a notch with this simple highlighting balm. You can build it up to the shimmer you want, but you can also lightly pad it onto the high points of your face for a dewy glow.

Lip Color: NOTO Botanics Multi-Benne Stain Stick
If you’re the type of person who wants a bit of color to their lips, an easy lip stain like this one from NOTO Botanics will leave you with a natural-looking, I-just-ate-a-popsicle finish that looks as feels as if it were there all along.
Cheek Tint: Tower 28 BeachPlease Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm
Trust me when I tell you, a cheek tint will be your saving grace. Not only have I used it to add some extra color to my face (something that’s much needed after countless days inside), but I’ve also used it on my lips, eyes, and anywhere else I want a sun-kissed look to my face.
Shimmering Serum: RéVive Glow Elixir
When you want to opt out of the highlighter and cheek tint, you can’t go wrong with this radiant oil. RéVive’s Glow Elixir features a copper-hued, pearlescent finish, which you can use all over by mixing it with your moisturizer, or as bronzed highlighter in spot areas.
Any type of video call will require some definition to your eyes to make them more visible on the other end. The easiest way to do that is with a few coats of mascara. This one will build up easily, so you can have lashes that are as dramatic as you’d like.
