The Ultimate Sunscreen Round-Up According To Skincare Lovers

The SPF search is over (for now).

Every day, I spend way too much time strategically plotting the day’s skincare routine. I’m basically that “Math Lady” meme, but staring into the abyss of my vanity, trying to plot up each layer I put on my face.

While I’m doing the math, I always know the right formula ends with an SPF. Here’s where I have a confession: I am a skincare devotee, but an SPF freshman. Yes, I am proficient in moisturizers and serums, but when it comes to sun protection, I’m still in the process of finding the best product(s) on the market. Which led me to: Why the heck do I own so many?

It did make me wonder, incredible SPFs are out there? Right? They have to be! To help, I handed the mic over to my skincare community and I opened the floor to suggestions. Below is a dispatch from the search to compile the ultimate SPF list. While we’re all at home and staying inside (and have plenty of time on our hands), now is 100% the moment to find our SPF soulmate.

“My current favorite is the Elta MD UV Elements. It’s all mineral, tinted, and has a satin finish. Gives enough coverage that you don’t need foundation.” —Devan (@devsday)

“I feel so basic but I use Krave Beet Shield.” —Harris (@harrisjoel)

Paula’s Choice Essential Glow! It’s been my holy grail for over a year.” —Jewlie Williams (@hellojewlie)

“My go-to is Glossier Invisible Shield. Love that it’s clear, had an orange scent, and layers really well under makeup! Also Trader Joe’s Face and Body Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF. Works so well, isn’t too thick, and doesn’t leave a white cast. Definitely a better option for when you’re outdoors and not wearing any makeup.” – Gaby Villalta (@gabyavillalta)

“I’m using the Dr. Loretta Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen at the moment. I like it because it also protects from blue light and has a slight pinkish tint that adds a “perfecting” finish.” —Francine (@vegamfrancine)

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen, with the Glosser Invisible Shield as a close second.” —Amanda Knots (owner @ankstudios)

“My holy grail is Josie Maran’s Argan Daily SPF 47.” —Matt (@dirtyboysgetclean)

kiehlssunscreen

“I’ve been loving the Kiehl’s Activated Sun Protector. It’s an SPF50 spray. So easy to apply and soak in. It isn’t sticky and protects well.” —Nicki (@nickifrances)

Ultra Violette Supreme Screen is the best, but not available in the US. My favorite US one is Paula’s Choice Tinted SPF 30 with zinc. And vitamin C underneath to boost it!” —Hannah English (@ms_hannah_e)

“I’ve been using Sundaze C-Shells SPF and loving it! Works well for my oily skin.” —Riyah Taylor (@riyahtaylor)
