What’s your ideal night in?

JS

I’m a major homebody so I love a good night in. If I’m by myself I like to put some music on and cook, whether it’s something easy that I’ve cooked a hundred times, or something new from a cookbook. I also love to pamper myself. I’ve always done my own manicures so I love putting on a face mask and zoning out in front of the tv while I trim my cuticles. While you’re out at the club I’m watching everything on the ID channel and practicing my nail art and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What’s your ideal night out?

JS

On the nights that I do get out of the house I really love to get together with my group of friends, but I still like to keep it low key. I like when we gather at someone’s house with some snacks and play games or just sit around and talk and laugh. I’m not a big activity or adventure person, I much prefer to just connect. If it’s a date night with my boyfriend though, we’ll usually do dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and then if I’m not begging him to go home, then we’ll also see a movie after.

How do you Sunday?

JS

I love Sunday because there is no expectation to see anybody. It’s pretty well understood that Sunday is a time to decompress and get your shit together. That’s when I like to clean, do laundry and run errands. I find the act of running errands and doing chores meditative. I have anxiety and so those days where I get to get my life and home in order makes me feel more in control for the rest of the week.

What’s your self-care power move?

JS

Peppermint oil. It’s my secret weapon for anxiety and panic attacks. Seriously, try it. It’s changed my life so much in the moments where you feel yourself starting to lose it, breathing it in just regrounds you.

What’s currently on your want list?

JS

I constantly have a running list of things that I want. Currently, it’s lilac linen sheets from I Love Linen and a terry cloth pullover by Donni.

What’s the best thing social media has done for you? The worst?

JS

Well the best thing social media has done for me is give me a career! The ability to connect with people all over the world is so rewarding and still blows my mind all the time. The worst thing it’s done for me is make me doubt myself. My talent, my beauty, my life choices. That is the dark side of things that I think we all struggle with on social media. I need to constantly remind myself to continue being who I am because that’s more than enough.

TS

What (or who) inspires you?

JS

I get most inspired when my boyfriend gives me a pep talk. He always knows exactly what to say to make me feel better and have faith in myself again.

TS

Best beauty buy of the past 3 months?

JS

I splurged on the Victoria Beckham Bitten Lip Tint and it’s so beautiful. The color is a very unique brownish berry stain that looks stunning on everybody and the packaging is SO fancy.

TS

Describe beauty as you see it in a few words.

JS

I think we need to stop thinking of the type of idealized beauty the media portrays and start redefining it for ourselves. To me what’s beautiful is being kind to yourself and others and being true to who you are in your heart.

Let’s play F*ck, Marry, Kill skincare edition: cleanser, moisturizer, serum.

JS

This one is really hard but I think I would fuck serum, marry moisturizer and kill cleanser. Fuck serum because it’s that extra critical step which just feels sexier to me, but moisturizer is what keeps my skin from feeling tight and dry. It’s the practical choice you can always rely on. I really need cleanser so I hate that I have to kill it, but I have no choice.

TS

And now makeup edition: mascara, blush, lipstick?

JS

Fuck blush, marry mascara, kill lipstick. If I have blush and mascara on then I feel really pretty. Lipstick is a fun step that I love, but more often than not I’m wearing lip balm anyway.
