With current protests taking place all across America right now, it is our job to continue to stand up against the injustice against black lives. It is time to demand change and it goes beyond being vocal on social media. It requires action and it is imperative that we put our money where our mouth is. In addition to donating to organizations put in place to support fighting the inequality and racial injustice polluting the country, we must be intentional about supporting black-owned businesses, including black-owned beauty companies. How and where we choose to spend right now matters more than ever.
As consumers we can do our part but that only goes so far if large corporations with mass influence on spending dollars don’t uphold theirs. Stocking black-owned products on their shelves is a crucial step in making real change happen when it comes to economic equality.

“As a business owner and someone in the retail space, I am really personally aware of the lack of representation on a lot of major retailers’ shelves. So many of your businesses are built on Black spending power. We represent 15% of the population and we need to represent 15% of your shelf space.”
You can join the fight for economic equality by signing the petition here. Let’s continue to support and bring awareness to black-owned beauty brands that need our support here and now. We’ve compiled a list of places to shop, and will continue to update this post with more brands to support.
